As the daughter of a professional photographer father and medical office manager mother, Karla was destined to combine her creative talents and passion for health and wellness into her lifelong career as a writer.

Karla holds both a B.S. and M.A. from Syracuse University, and has been writing professionally since 1994, with a focus on the healthcare industry since 2014. She advocates taking a proactive approach to wellness and aging, and subscribes to the philosophy that food is medicine.

Through The Change Is Personal, Karla is dedicated to helping women better understand their options during perimenopause and menopause, so they can navigate this stage of life with confidence and clarity. She talks to her friends (and really, anyone who will listen) about not just suffering through symptoms, and shares insights from her own professional and personal experiences.

With her two rescued German Shepherds, Karla recently relocated from Atlanta to Chattanooga, to be closer to her favorite (and only) daughter, who attends the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Karla's closet is now filled with two shades of orange.

Karla's Wing Women Triple Play

Q: If your life had a mantra, what would it be?

A: Find humor in as many situations as possible. And dance often! When you make a mistake, keep smiling and dancing anyway. The show must go on!

Q: If you were a color, what color would you be?

A: Greenish turquoise like the color of the ocean. Green is a healing color and saltwater is medicinal to the mind, body, and soul.

Q: What is your attitude about aging?

A: Even though I’m not, I always think I’m the youngest person in the room. In my mind, I’m 28. I believe it’s important to have the mindset of feeling young, so your body takes direction from your positive thoughts.
